Tēnā koutou,
Hopefully by the time you read this, NZIC Branch activities will be well underway. Please continue to host and organise events that will benefit and add value for our members and attract new membership.
Many of our Branches engaged in the IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast, coinciding with the UN Day of Women and Girls in Science on 27 February. I look forward to seeing Branch news describing all the activities!
This year, we have several excellent conferences that should excite many of the interests of our members:
- ConSTANZ is the Science Technicians and Lab Managers education conference and it will take place from 1 – 3 October in Cambridge, Waikato.
- The ChemBioLive education conference will be held in Wellington from 12–15 November.
- Our Otago Branch is hard at work organising the NZIC 2024 conference, which will be held in Dunedin from 24–28 November. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there. Please encourage colleagues to join NZIC and get member registration rates at this conference.
We are eager to grow NZIC’s relevance to the industry and business sectors, both as the professional institute for chemists and the place for organisations to come if they have chemistry issues to solve. Please consider how we can increase our relationships with businesses, CRIs and other organisations. Let us know at nzic.office@gmail.com of any contacts who might be keen to join NZIC or advertise jobs through our network or suggest ways that we can reach and add value for industry members.
Noho ora mai rā, nā
Joanne Harvey
NZIC President 2023–2024
