Mellor lecture 2023 - Professor Cather Simpson
On 16 November Professor Cather Simpson came to Victoria University and spoke about her work on desktop diagnostics. Cather Simpson is a chemical physics researcher and startup founder, with a keen interest in the research-commercialisation interface. Cather spoke about her vision for Orbis Diagnostics and their results on measurements of anti-SARS-CoV-2 RBD (receptor binding domain) in vaccinated people, as well as their progress towards creating a truly multiplexed, 3-test panel for Hepatitis B.
Wellington Branch NZIC Travel Scholarship
This year Lara Browne was awarded a Wellington Branch NZIC travel scholarship to attend the 12th Asian Photochemistry Conference in Melbourne, Australia. She writes, “This conference was a great opportunity for me to meet with other researchers in my area of study, as well as listen to presentations from experts in the field. I am grateful to the NZIC Wellington branch for providing funding to make this trip possible.”
